2 Tablespoons ghee
½ cup orange juice
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon mineral-rich salt
⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
3 large pears, cored and sliced or cubed
(optional topping) 1 Tablespoon real maple syrup
1) In a cast iron or heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine all ingredients except pears. Cook over medium heat until ghee is melted and spices mix – about 1-2 minutes.
2) Add pears and stir, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until sauce thickens slightly and pears are tender, about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3) Remove from heat. If desired, drizzle maple syrup over the top.
